Tomáš Madro

stage designer
“Theatre teaches me to better think about communication and helps me with cleansing from the superfluous. I can transgress the line of simplification, which is not allowed in the common practice.”

* 1987

An architect by profession. His opinions and career were shaped in the environment of the Department of Spatial Design at the Faculty of Architecture in Brno, especially by Jan Mléčka, and later in the collective of people/friends from H3T Architects.

Besides the common professional experience, he had the chance to partake in many site-specific installations and spatial inventions in the public space. He has participated in several workshops as a lecturer and has co-organized summer Workshop for architecture students.

He is interested in theatrical viewpoints on expressing oneself with the help of simple formulations and allusions, working with shortcuts and symbols, and the ability to transgress the line of simplification, which is not allowed in the common practice. Theatre teaches Tomáš to better think about communication and helps him with cleansing from the superfluous. His colleague and friend Zuzka Hejtmánková, with whom he shares a similar world outlook, brought him to Theatre Aldente.
